Solar PV and wind power will be cornerstones of the future energy supply. Photovoltaics is now the most affordable renewable energy technology, with prices for PV modules having fallen by around 90 percent between 2009 and 2019. Ground-mounted PV systems can create competition for the use of agricultural land, and considering the limited availability of arable land, the increasing demand for space may exacerbate competition for land use and trigger social, political, economic and environ- mental conflicts. Agrivoltaics presents novel solutions to these issues. In this talk, the technology will be introduced along with highlights from research projects. Furthermore, unique simulation methodologies used for the technology will also be described.
