PV Grid Integration - Chances and Challenges
A Talk by Volker Wachenfeld (Hochschule Biberach University of Applied Science)
About this Talk
About 15 years ago, it became obvious that photovoltaics connected to the public grid would be much more than just a “negative load”. The first dedicated standard to define rules and regulations for grid-connected renewables was the German BDEW’s “Medium Voltage Guideline”, issued in 2009. Since then, PV has been starting to significantly contribute to the electricity supply of many countries in the world. Today, ancillary services as reactive power supply and frequency-dependent power control are state of the art, and but to finally replace conventional power plants, PV will have to rise to further challenges.
