When deployed in the field, PV modules are subject to stress. That can be during installation, transport or weather conditions.
These stresses can cause failures in the modules, such as cracks, Potential Induced Degradation, cell interconnection breaks, etc.
This talk will start with a review of the main failures that are typically observed in PV modules and how we can use electroluminescence images to detect them and eventually quantify the degradation in terms of power output.
The main focus of the talk will be the state-of-the-art methods to quantify module degradation and power loss from EL images.
We will be looking mainly at analytical luminescence models and data driven or machine learning models, explaining what their advantages and disadvantages are and how can they be applied on a large scale in PV fields.
